Show & Tell

Show & Tell

Dear Colleagues,

Knowing & Anti-Knowing
What’s the difference & what’s the
relationship?

Narcotics cannot still the tooth
that nibbles at the soul. (E.D.)

A motto for me these days: good words
addressing Narcosis and the Nibbling
Going On & on, & why they don’t just
get along: something always eating
away despite narceine crimp & cramp
numbing narcissus & my eco-centric
echo not withstanding.

It is difficult
to get the news from poems
yet men die miserably every day
for lack
of what is found there.

William Carlos Williams

Same could be said for chemistry’s
better living and biology; physics
for sure: psychology, mathematics,
history, sociology & theology, &
all our environ- mental sciences: news
always here waiting for its lovers to die
for.

For those not in love:
there’s LAW,
to rule
to regulate
to rectify. (Wm. Gass)

According to the original legend (as opposed to the vulgate)
Narcissus don’t know he’s narcissistic. His image-I-nation
has him in thrall but he doesn’t know it’s he he thinks its
something else: objects of his fascination, sure; but not
his own face.

Narcotized.

A realist of the imagination & not so smart as to be so stupid as
to know he has fallen for himself: Echo could give him some news,
but it would be demoralizing. Until then, it nibbles.

What’s wrong with this picture?

Narcissus & the Numbnuts
Allo-Variation on
the nibbling & narcosis
phenomenon
the more images the merrier, yes?
the more representation, the better, true?

A Liberal Art Dilemma

How do I
know I don’t
know I don’t
know, not knowing
any better & necessarily
ignorant of my ignorance
of my ignorance: other than
nothing but the tooth nibbling
narcissistically suggesting some
transcend dentistry going on?

It would be something like asking
Joe Fish to conceive of his all
wet ratios, relatives, and
relationships having no
comparison, no basis
for assessment.

In the mean time, we put myn on the moon anyway,
validating what we know we know and ignoring
what we don’t know we don’t know which
would be moot other than to anesthetize
the gnawing nibble no narcotic stills
saying more than meets the I &
news from poems always at
hand and under foot.
