Speaking at the N A A C P

Speaking at the

N A A C P

This man sang the difference
between cantata and spiritual,
demonstrating distinctions
between upbeat and off beat,
left and right brain processing
reading and righting and ritalyn,
defying us to spell how Jack
Kennedy pronounced aesk um
naught waaat yr country can
do
and what constitutes proper
English my follow mericans
and how it is "difference" don’t
mean "deficiency" but different,
damnit..

You probably hadda been there
to appreciate: one of those hadda
-been-there speeches, jeremiad if
you’ve never heard one before like
stand up i'm loving it laughing and
don't realize my head's cleanly cut
till I move and then it's rolling on
the floor.

A good think.

Curl my toes, singing sweet &
lo: maybe there's gonna be some
change coming on. Always.
