Black Mt. College & WWC: a difference that makes a difference.

To Graham & the FAH Division
plus colleagues across the
curriculum.

Theatre! Theatre!

Did Black Mountain College
offer Capstone Courses do
you suppose? To sum IT all
up, pull IT together, get a
handle on IT so to speak:
achieve closure.

I’m just asking.

Maybe they did.

We ought to wonder.

Over the past almost 40 years
there have been c 4 local Black
Mountain College Retrospectives
acknowledging their contributions
from right down the road: so what
they did must intrigue if not
fascinate.

Not to DO what they did, heaven
forbid, but to salute & admire
their accomplishments.

Not to imitate good gracious no:
but to appreciate. Celebrate.

There’s a difference that makes a
difference between academy values
and conservatory values, true?

Appropriately “hostile” and
incommensurate: we wouldn’t
want to measure, assess and
evaluate work-program/service-
project values of the Academy
in the play & mess & guess of
Conservatory values, don’t
you agree?.

And vice versa:
especially vice- versa.
Imagine measuring, assessing,
and evaluating aims & outcomes
of A Black Mountain College
experience in the terms and
capstone expectations of a
Warren Wilson College
experience.

That would be a mix of species, true?
A contamination, abomination in the
old fashioned sense of the word.

Admire, yes?
From a distance: appreciate.
Celebrate over and over again.
But do not try this at home.

THIS, I said.
Do I have to be spelling
THIS out?

xxxooo, Sam
