Go Fish
 
I admit, Paula, if I could be sailing
or taking skiing lessons from my
son  I wouldn’t be sitting here sending
smoke signals from my cave.

But I’m walking on 3 legs now,
going the way of all flash.
 
I’ve a few “A’s” left over, if any
down in the Hamil Complex could
use them. Rigor there is severe &
a gratuitous  “A” might could be
innovative. .
 
You know that old saw  about fish:
give one away and he eats for a
day; teach him to fish and he
eats forever.
 
Not really about fish, true?
We could be talking about
bacon and raising pigs
 
OR reading some kid a night-time
story as opposed to learning him
how to read hisself.
 
Give him a ride to the mall
or a bike..
 
Etc
 
Tell him what important people
think and write and say,
or have him argue
his ass off.
 
You can see where this is going.
Turtles all the way down. Give a
man “A” &  he's student forever.
 
IT's not about the content & subject
matter it seems to be about
fish
bacon
pigs
stories
books
bicycles
malls
“A’s.”

Although I can imagine a course
where I might be tested on all
those specifics,  & my “A”
depend on knowing them,
a measurable outcome.
Assessable because
accountable.
 
IT's really about something else, true?
The pattern that connects behind,
beyond, underlying and overarching
specifics and devilish details.
And putting IT in play, yes?
 
On the one hand: (X) such and such.
     
On the other hand: (Z) capability
 
And the relationship (Y) between
specifics & capabilities is what IT
is all about. Nouns & VERBING:
the difference and the relationship.
 
Ratios. Rationalizations. Reasoning..
 
Fishing for myn.

Haul them out of a sea of heart
break. Let t hem flip & flop on
the bottom of the canoe, breathe
dry air, renew  amateur standing
and arrested development.
