Imagine assessing a course
where you are encouraged
to ignore whatever doesn’t
provoke, whatever doesn’t
call to you, catch your “I”? 

The way you walk through
a field, say—or  mall: paying
attention to some crow or
hedgehog, Gap display—
those new blue dungarees &
whatever suits your agenda

Ignore the rest. Mostly
ignore-ant, of course;
how could it be otherwise? 

Attention deficient by
nature &  natural selection. 

Efficient where it counts.
Not where it don't.
Efficient overall.

The soul selects her own society,
Then shuts the door;
On her divine majority
Obtrude no more.
