Through the But-Cracks

   Through the Cracks

  Foolish on the one hand.
    Offensive on the other.

Working the edge toward frontiers
yet unknown, bad lands & outlaw
territories: every move I make must
be  ridiculous to the savvy and
offensive to the conscientious.

That’s how I know I’m stalwart--
pioneering on the yes-but crack
of culture & custom, convention
& convenience..

“Ridiculous!” declares Smartypants;

“O no you din’t,” shouts Goodness
& Mercy-Me.

Confirming that  I walk a cutting
edge; how could it be other wise?

“To be great is to be misunderstood”
says Emerson.  But  misunderstood
don’t mean  great.

Walk on Water (WOW)
Walk on Eggs (WOE)

Blake says a Fool who persists in his Folly
becomes Wise…and the Road of excess
leads to the Palaceof Wisdom

Bromides & bumper-stickers: prayer
beads  fingered falling off the edge
into ridiculous on the one  hand;
noxious on the other, sustaining
hope for  the dead if not the
deadly. .
