Miss Dialectic
The heart of the heart of Liberal Art
(not to be confused with liberal arts,
majors & minors--prerequisites and
capstones & stuff like that. ).
Some Aspects of ARGUMENT-ability
1. Got to love it as much as rugby and old
time music: argument for it’s own sake—
not to win/lose but, like hacky sack to keep
it in play
2. Got to love the “enemy”—worthy opponent,
other-side, team, across the I’ll: antithesis,
antagonist: turn it up, bring it on.
3. Got to see thru the tokens, no getting stuck
in content, subject-object matter, double binds,
Gordian Naughts, Tar Babies or Chinese Finger
Traps --nor in “logic” or consistency, controlling
metaphors: meta-force savvy & able to push them
overthe edge where they all break down or switch
in mid-stream, snuffling-up hidden and obvious
assumptions: :watching the talk, not (just) content.
4. Sensitive to transgressions: border crossing
frontiers yet unknown--my own, others; dialectic
can't begin till someone gets ”hurt” so to speak:
offence, insult--ouch, oh-my, damnit--right there
is where the game starts—not in scoring, but in
considering the nature of the injury: what’s being
protected that was trans-parent & unacknowledged?
5. Edification Dialectic embracing debate and
dialogue: in order to be building up awareness of
the topic and the process: a shared "shining."
6. Always an ongoing Environmental Issue. Creating
an atmosphere where the practice is seen as profitable
a process as “useful” as taking notes and examination.
Grade-gun demands & issues fully understood and not
with standing. .
Miss Anti-Dialectic
(The heart of liberal arts: majors and minors,
pre-requs and capstones: not to be conflated
with Liberal Art)
xxxooo, Sam (Please: improve my terms. They
always need it. We could argue. )
