Why we can't Just Get Along

The mass of men live lives of quiet
desperation.   That government

governs best which governs least.
How can we well use our ignorance
which
our growth requires who have
always
to be using our knowledge?
 (Thoreau)

AND Why Can’t We Just Get Along?

Of course we cannot, and to keep
asking that question and wondering
is part of the problem (an interesting
problem, none more interesting than
the Just Get Along problem)..

UNLESS:  we can frame IT so that
knowing-we-can’t-just-get-along is
prerequisite for just getting along.
as individuals, families, communities,
countries.

Like being agreeable about being
disagreeable.  Or like taking a
course where arguing signifies
getting  along and not arguing
signifies not getting anywhere
let alone a long.

Same can be said re World Peace:
Global Get Along.  Of course we
can’t., and to keep tossing that notion
up as if it were possible contributes to
the overall Un-Getting-Along-ness
agony.

We accentuate the positive thinking
that’s a “good thing” but it’s done at
the expense of the negative, which is
stigmatized. denied, covered-up &
sent to the basement so to speak, not
allowed out with the good folks. .

Goodies:  want to be Good so bad
we
can’t afford the bad-it-takes to
get
good.  Pity. That’s the heart of the
Get Along problem right there. Need
we argue?

In the Fall of the House of US.  Poe
allegorizes this wonderful schizoid
aspect of a human nature that denies
its other half –in this case Roderick
Rationality burying his twin sister
(Madeline Irrationality) alive. Boy,
does she ever come back to wreak
havoc.  Tearing down the house.
They couldov gotten along if they
could have just not gotten along.

We get along by not getting along.
World Peace: constant warfare and
aggravation. .How could it be other
wise and do justice to the dynamics
of part, parts, and wholes? I'm
asking.

[It’s at least a  language problem. We
can’t  talk out of 3 sides of our mouths
at once (thesis/antithesis/synthesis) let
alone hear. If we could, of course, the
whole get along not get along deal would
collapse, a black whole happily ever after.

Need we argue?  Of course. We must
to Get-Along-not-getting-along,
not just get along.

xxxooo, Sam
