Make War Not Love

Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Tunes?

   "IT IS SCIENTIFICALLY INCORRECT
to say that we have inherited a tendency
to make war from our animal ancestors.
"
                  Seville Statement on Violence...

Never the less, I confess my love to snipe at
other Critical Thinkers and engage in critical-
thinking skirmishes, duels, brew ha ha’s, yes-
but’s, on-the-other-hands—sandals and togas
in the groves of academe & it don’t matter
what the subject object matter is or content-
topics –the more trivial the better seeing as
profundity eclipses the process and it’s the
Critical Thinking strategic and tactical exercise
going on that counts, true? Getting better and
even good at it.  Need we argue?

Gold’s Gym.

Synectics it was called, back in the 70’s—brain
storming;  group process. Philip Phenix called it
Noetics.  Edification: building up a shared point
of view—emergent revelation and small
apocalypses now & then..

Except theoretically, I’ve never been able to figure
out how to  provoke a group (even my own classes,
sadly after all these years trying) into this kind of
collaborative critical thinking. Must be an environ-
mental issue.

Hard to practice putting ideas in play when the aim
& purpose is to cover ground in some discipline
driven by measurable goals, assessable outcomes,
major, minor, and capstone experience.

In such an environment, IT  remains  combative and
principled: scrupulous homeland security systems
kick in. Right & Wrong, Good & Evil.

A  moral alma matrix, rough beast like some
Sphinx has me in thrall, Narcissus & Procrustes
as well as Epimenides not with standing: I’m
caught inside the mythological web, ignoring its
descriptive accuracy, casting my gall stones at
everyone elses’s bad behavior

My inner Hitler & Donald Trump & nowadays
subterranean Glenn Beck  always bursting  to get
out, flamboyant and flaunting if only to balance the
affective budget. So many Goodies. .

“Your goodness must have edge, else it is none,”
says Emerson, and “the doctrine  of hatred must be
preached as counter to Good when it pules and whines.“

Of course him and Thoreau: all  transcendental.,
rising above IT as it were. Meta-Goodies, didn’t
have to fake it. Textually harass, sure,  but don’t
be imitating. .
