Teaching & Learning Styles: Rigor-us-a--um
My Mission Impossible
My course/classes are academic heresy.
I don’t correct or give grades—which
process and protocol is in fact what regulates
and controls institutional “learning.”
Students, then, can come and go as they
please, take responsibility or avoid it,
gain by the freedom or rip-it-off in
order to comply with surrounding demands.
An offense or at least problematic to both
conformists and rebels when the Conventional
Standard is removed or ignored. Game-Changer.
Environmental. We swim in convention so that
it feels normal and natural. Might as well ask
Joe Fish to define WET (let alone dry –ab-solut) .
Impossible for him till hauled out of the pond to
flop in the canoe.
Somewhat the same in my courses when the
natural constraints and goads are dropped.
(Anarchy: literally—no arches)
And so for me presumptuously to drop the
externals—regulation and reinforcement,
is something like hauling fish out of the
pond: traumatic? Ridiculous? Offensive?
What? What the? What the hell? ….
a CRIME against the Convention.
Ridiculous to the Savvy; Offensive to the
Conscientious.
All in all: mission impossible
No way I can get away with what I do.
It’s beyond me and my control.
Walk on Eggs (W.O.E.)
Walk on Water (W.O.W)
Choose woe or wow. Mission Impossible
