My Critical Thinking : Abstract & Applied
& Don’t They Just Get Along!
When I walk thru a field or wood or mall I pay my
naturally selective efficient attention to a few things,
this and that, ignoring the whole of course: rip-off
artist, moving violator, criminal discriminator— my
attention- efficiency generating a massive attention
deficit. How could it be other wise ?
Same with a book, scholarly or magazine article, text,
context, news paper, talking heads commentary,
power point lecture—unless of course there’s a gun to
my head.
Achtung!
I comply.
Do my best to take it all in, or else.
Injustice: what I do. A natural born reductionist.
O I might deny. Cover it up. But Guilt follows me all
the days of my life—my debt and obligation to a
whole I parse, parcel & partialize to suit my agenda:
aims, goals & measureable outcomes. How could it
be otherwise?
