Liberal Art Snippets
Liberal Art Stuff (not to be collapsed, conflated,
or confused with yr liberal arts, them majors,
minors, posters and capstone events)
And not pretty. Snippets. Fragments.
I’m waiting for Gödel’s Theorem but
like a tea kettle it don’t boil while watching.
William Gass in “The Heart of the Heart
of the Country” wrote, “I’d like to rise so
high that when I shit some of it hits every
body.”
All a decent mom wants is to be able to
breast feed her kids till they’re grown
ups without every one making a fuss over it.

Ultima Thule (Yonder, Else Where)
Beyond Good & Evil. Beyond theism & atheism.
Beyond literal & metaphorical. Beyond history
& myth. Beyond rational & irrational. Beyond
logical & analogical. liberal & conservative & across
the aisle: yonder come Miss Rosie.
Wonder how can I tell? I can tell her by the apron.
And the dress she wore
Read you some Winnie the Pooh if you don't watch
out and start up whether bears can talk or not.
Forgetaboutit. Christ on a cross for crying out loud.
Much too smart for this shit. All groan up.

Lovely & loveliness is not what I need believe me
I wouldn’t lie about such a deal. Not at all
all I need. Abounds, sure. Feels good, no
question. Necessary, yes. But don’t
suffice. No no no .

Dogs play war and tussle to say “this is play”:
this is not what it seems; but dog don’t got NEG
to negate & say dog won’t kill you so dogs play
it out just like fighting except not, see? Tails
wagging afterward.
Humans got NEG and so I say I won’t hurt you
and then be doing it. HA! That’s the advantage
of having NEG.
Still, in the long run—no meta- neg: just metaplay—
struts and frets upon a stage: song & furry, sound
& fury & not at all what it appears. No no no.

Onward Xtian & Stalwart Soldier I’m at war with
Lutherans, Liberals, Fundamentalists, Atheists,
Deists, spiritual if not Religious: Decent people all
of us trying to preserve, rescue, redeem, repair the
archetypes, know what I mean? Oidolons. Myths
& Fictions to live and die for, rites & rituals to take
care of business & make the world a better pace.

It's Always About ME. The distinction I am unable
to bring-off: IT's never about what it's about.
It's always Look-at-ME for crying out loud.
"Masturbating a glitter," says Sylvia Plath.
Call & Response as in tap-dancing: you do
your riff--now watch me buck & wing.
Don't matter the tune or content, subject matter
or object: profound or trivial . Same as it always is.
Look at ME: I"m smart and clever if not that good
looking but we put too much emphasis on looks
anyways. everybody knows that, and young girls
are growing up with body dys-morphia etc. Smart
trumps looks--so we say so we say.
If you disagree with me that it's always about me,
I'll say you're in-denial and and then if you continue
to deny it I'll say SEE! What I'm saying!
&&&
“The People Always Hedge” ( Martin Luther)
Thank God for hedging .Margins for error
Rooms for play. Ambiguities. Ambivalence.
Doubt & Doubling Down Wiggling & Wrangling
a Wretch like me. .
Israelic: Wrestling with God crying out loud oooo,
shit, ouch, damnit yes Yes YES.
