     Elephant in the Room
 
Just like a whisk broom, I declare.
 
That’s my feeling.
That’s my experience.
That’s my perception.
That’s my story and I’m
sticking with it.
 
And I hear you all,
colleagues my colleagues:
I hear your  stories,
your perceptions,
your experiences,
your tree trunks and
your fire hoses and
your big old leaves
–so not whisk-broomy,
not even  close
 
E Pluribus Unum
 
Can I suspend my belief and
dis-belief and conjure broom
and hose  and leaf and  trunk
& see the vision-of-the-whole
and say it too?

   There’s  no actual elephant
    in the room. A way of saying,
    is all.  Nail it down if you need
    to. Or just imagine.  Or we
   could argue.]
