Life of the Mind: Questioning Assumptions

           Socrates suffering the passion of
             Xantippe (bathed in the flood
                    of a thunder jar)

“You are always in your mind!”
                                   “I like it there.”
 ( Edward Abbey A Fool’s Progress)

Life of the Mind as opposed to
Life of the Body not to be confused
with Life of the Bawdy Politic.

Intellectual pursuit as distinct
from physical &  material pursuits
The pursuit  of HAP-iness, say, as
if it were some where other.

My old man called me hedonist.

Questioning my assumptions, I
manage to find them agreeable,
or tweak and twist until they
become that way.   Can’t operate
with disagreeable assumptions
knowingly as far as I know.

I can question yours, if you like.
We could trade. Reciprocate. I’ll
question yours if you question mine.
Play Doctor! Doctor! and see what we find.
