Any wise-guy or fool can demonstrate the

duplicity and ambivalence of language by

saying the focus, agenda, aim and purpose

of this class (as opposed to this course) is to

have no focus, no agenda, no aim, no purpose

        The aim: to have no aim.

    The agenda: to have no agenda.

Such statements might confuse and irritate

the so-called “logical” among us but most

have no difficulty recognizing the value and

use of contradiction and paradox in representing

the layered contexts of a language act.

Higher order embraces a lower disorder.

Higher laws embrace outlaws and civil

disobedience. Chaos is “chaos” to the

orderly  but the mother of organization

to the universe. 

NOISE is the source of news.

Random provides the origin of Order.

Habits and Habitats, rites and rituals,

protocols and procedures shape and

fashion and limit in accord with their

habit and habitat, rite and ritual

We are determined by our terms,

captured by our contolling

metaphors.

We get what we pray for.

I go into the cave with my ego conscious

lite in order to study darkness.  Focus,

I tell myself: focus—captured by my

consistency and coherence.   Stick in

my thumb, pull out a  plumb. O what

a good boy am I.
