Mother of All Invention

The Triad of triads. Mother of All Invention
             (Need we argue?)

Right here (this triad)  represents  the  Deep, Structural, and Surface
Grammar of Games and Communication.  Basketball (say) and Graduation
Speeches. Ping Pong (say) and Middle East Negotiations Poker (say) and
Peter’s Pretty Poems etc. Lovers quarrels and rugby matches.

                                                                                                 II.
                                                                                  STRUCTURES  (contexts)
                                                                             analogical representation of  rules
                                 I.
                          RULES
digital representation of finite definition        I ripped this off the internet because
         Sà NP Aux VP                                                   tree structures all look alike—in form;
NPà (det) (AP) N (PP)                                     you’ll see in Chap 4 how they show
VPà V (NP) (PP) (Adv) (CP)                          in analogue form, what the rules say.
        PPà P NP                                                                             S
APà Adj (PP)                                                          NP     aux    VP
        CPà Comp S                                                                      etc

                                                                  III.
Surface forms & texts in play

I shot the sheriff but I did not shoot the deputy.
I fed the cat but I did not feed the manatee.
I tickled her toes but I did not scratch the amputee.

All these surface sentences are generated by the SAME STRUCTURE.
We could say they are RELATED in form and structure,
no matter how
DIFFERENT their surface content.

Let this be a lesson in SAMES and DIFFERENCES—relationship and
diversity. Surface’s conceal (eclipse, occlude) how things are
related—relative, relatives.
“I bombed the Iraqis  but I did not
bother the Iranians.” All in the same-structure family.

You can TELL: while these sentences have radically different bottom-
line content, at the same time: they are all the  same in STRUCTURE—
and  you might ask yourself:” what should I be focusing my deficient
attention on:  the bottom line surface game going on  OR the hierarchical
organizational structure  (deep grammar) which GENERATES it?

Liberal Art as opposed to  liberal arts.

Can you tell the difference? Relationship?

This GRAMMAR intends to be a UNIVERSAL GRAMMAR (UG)— showing
the archetypal characteristics of all language: what they have in common
(Rules and  Structures and Surface Play.   While it uses the terms of traditional
grammar (Latin based: what you will got in 7th grade on up in Eng. if you paid
attention), it is aiming to represent a way of representing the grammar of all
language—let’s say the grammar of basketball, hockey, powder skiing, physics,
biology, theology, skate-boarding: all “disciplines” are Ways of Talking about
what’s HAPPENING, true?

Have I overstated?  Of course. I overstate,. I reduce, I wrench and twist and force
what I see and hear so it fits my biases and beliefs, my prejudices and convictions.
It’s a violent business, being alive and  conscious. A rip-off. A crime against  the
WHOLE & holy.   Need we argue?
