Words Strain, Crack, and Sometimes Break Under the Burden

Liberal  art.

Strains the language. Cracks. Crazes.
No doubt.

Talking out of 3 sides of my mouth at once
(thesis, antithesis: synthesis or if I prefer
symbolic, diabolical, parabolic) : I won't be
understood; but might could take satisfaction
in speaking the truth, whole truth & nothing
but the truth. To be great is to be misunder-
stood but it don't follow that to be misunder-
stood is great.

Advice & Counsel from a Fundamentalist Friend

"You are utterly lost and dead in your sin and
unbelief, under the condemnation of  God, and
only prayer will raise you from  the dead. You
have no fear of God, which  is fatal. There is only
one remedy. Jesus Christ loves you and died for
you.

There is no other way to God and eternal life
other than through Jesus. Faith alone by grace
alone in and through Jesus. Your little head
lamp ego will be the eternal death of you if  you
do not repent of your pride and unbelief,
Sam."

My conviction of sin: describing the  condition
my condition is in.  I’d put it in other words
(let me count the ways) so as to make it more
accessible to the modern &  postmodern
sensibility as well as including the  varieties of
religious  experience and liberal art. But  if one
don’t  overly quibble over  letters  of the  law:
spirit shines
thru on the wings of the dove—
amazing  grace.  Wretch like me.

Actor in Search of the Play

Speaking out of 3 sides of my mouth at once.
I don’t make sense to either my liberal modern
and postmodern colleagues—some secular, some
not that much  Or to my various religious friends,
some fundamental, some not so much and some
Lutheran

Cutting edge: I might say. Liberal artist I would
insist presumptuously, beyond humania both
secular & sacred, out of the pox, closet,  culture,
convention and CAVE, Cave, cave.

I don’t make sense to myself and question the
untidy, muddled, posts I spam: uncomfortable
with the practice, even more uncomfortable not.

Lesser evil. I’m obedient. I’m compelled.
Obsessed. Enthusiastic.   Dedicated. Devoted.
Stalwart pioneer. Starving liberal artist.
The play’s the thing.
