Incommensurate
Not What We Know but
Whether We can put IT in play.
Incommensurate:
the values of rationality & the values of irrationality.
the values of idealism & the values of empiricism.
the values of imagination & the values of knowledge.
the values of pain & the values of pleasure.
the values of sickness & the values of health.
the values of skepticism & the values of belief.
the values of belief & the values of faith.
the values of conservatism & the values of liberalism.
the values of cold & the values of hot.
the values of dry & the values of wet.
the values of evil & the values of good.
I could go on.
Incommensurate is the point. Can’t measure or assess
one set if values in the terms of the other set of values
without a reduction and contamination and injustice to
both. We do, of course. And knowing better is better
than (and incommensurate with) not knowing better.
