SLACK

SLACK

President S. Solnick contains charisma. Factor
this factor in to the whole deal.

Good Advising:  if something is not worth doing,
 it’s not worth doing well.

One of my best students claimed he never read
a book in college.

For awhile, in the 70’s, students ran the Work Program.

It’s not what  I know these days (laptop dancing
free for all) but  whether I can put IT in play.

Need we argue?

Revise and revise and revise on the one hand if you're
trying to please the teacher & love a rubric and a
thesis-driven theme.

Write Yr Ass Off  other wise.

Once I got a required 10-page essay with one word
on each page.  We're not for  every one.

A couple years ago a  student did pirouettes on top of
her desk while others turned theirs over and wrestled
in the middle of the class room.  Selected 19th c. Writers.

When my dear colleague Dr. Bradshaw arrived and
instigated an English Honors Program. I failed in my
attempt to balance it with Dishonors but still trying.

Rigor on the one hand. Slack on the other.
Who loves the sound of one hand clapping?i
Balance, the students say like they were wise guys.

And VOICE.

Our particular and unique Atmosphere of Academics at
Warren Wilson College—the most liberal college in the land:
priceless.  Incommensurate.  Turn IT up.

Be the change you want to be in the whirl. You're not everyone
and maybe you're not for  every one either also.
