Liberal Art?


Dear Dialecticians, Humanists, American Literati
nd Colleagues Across the Curriculum

DISRUPTION : a monkey wrench tossed into
the smooth cogs and gears of the machine, a
bomb set off in the streets of Anywhere, a
student challenging the authority of a  teacher
in the middle of a class, a car accident in the
the crossroads,  loss of legs, loss of structure,
loss of supply, loss of relationship,  loss of life.

Who loves a rupture, disruption. interruption,
outside  interference,  outside evaluator,
sickness, bolt from the blue, accident,
emergence-y? Raise your hand.

HAP happens. happily.  No need to pursue.      

Imagine a context or environment where disaster,
crippling injury, neurosis, addiction, anxiety, panic,
broken spirit, body dysmorphia,  bottoming out,
cutting & constricting diagnosis were seen as Just
Right and prerequisite for Liberal Art & Lemonade.

The attractive power of the positive occludes the
descriptive power of the negative.

LIKE going into the cave with my miner’s bright
head-light turned on so as to study  “darkness”:
phdegreed, reflective, & refereed--wait'll they
get a load of this.

I don’t know how to argue-good.  My homeland
security system is disrupted & I generate defense.
and then offense. Oh no you  don’t.

I can think out of the box but don’t know how to talk
out-of-the- box in the box.

There’s a difference between describing and judging
but judging dominates. and  determines my describing.
Knowing it’s impossible for me to see things free of 
bias and prejudice makes it a possibility.

Need we argue?
