Whole-Assed rather then Half



The process (messy, muddled,  confusing) matters 
as much as the product   (clarity, consistent, coherent) 
but because we salute and celebrate PRODUCT ,
 that means Process must count MORE. Or else.

Same with schooling: you know that grades  aren’t
what really count and yet becausewe can count them, 
they count; but because everyone really counts them
sooo much,then they  don’t really  count, damnit. 
They’d count right if they didn’t count so much
(or if we  didn’t count them so much). But we do, so 

they don’t. Or else.  See what I’m saying?

It’ s the unpacking of ideas and arguing-out that counts
more than the sense we mightmake, I claim.  It’s the
arguing and back-&-forth that counts more than 
the solutions. 
Need we argue?

In fact the Arguing IS the Solution, not the solution.
The Media IS the Message, not the message.
The Context IS the Text, not the text
The Journey IS the Destination, not the destination.

It’s not whether I win or lose but how I play the game 
that counts. It’s not how much  I know but whether I
can put it in play that counts.   Do you agree? Disagree?  
It’s better if you disagree than if you agree— don’t you 
agree?   NO?  Need we argue? Of course we must  
Or what’s a college for?   You tell me.

My POINT:                                            
                       
 

A point itself is a terrific thing to “make” seeing as it does
it at such awesome  exclusion of Every Thing Else. 

I make points, Rip-off from the whole.
I nail things down, I hammer and pound—
I eliminate all else but my POINT: see my point?

Pay your Efficient Attention to it, please: and ignore all else. 
Or else.

Me: reductionist. Over-stater. Exaggerator. Rip-off artist. 
Violator:  always a rough criminality  against the Whole. 
What? You don’t agree?  We can argue.

Go ahead: accuse me. I have no defense. I turn the other 
cheek. Both. .

Whatever is valued in them other courses (clarity,
 coherence, consistency where  you got to be getting
stuff done and covering ground) :  that’s a good thing 
but  I mean to  turn up the opposite values:

confusion
muddle
argument
process
trial and error
all mothers of invention that are resource for the NEW 
& innovative:all the procedural stuff that is ignored or 
devalued by the emphasis on clarity and purpose.

Consider The WHOLE deal (process & product) , not just
the half-assed.  Factor in the emergent phenomena as 
well as the predictable. Non-linear in relation to  the 
merely linear.  Background as mothering  the figure. 
Context as important as texts.

If I could Force This Issue, I would, and make you 
do what I say. Think this way.

                           

But see: IT can’t be forced  No grade-gun will bring about
emergent and creative response Playing with opposites 
and contraries and the limits of language—the contra
dictions and paradoxes that indicate more than the sum 

of parts, the attention deficiencies that surround and 
augment the so called attention efficiencies, the liabilities
of purpose and aim and goal and the inadequacies of 
language and consciousness goes against the grain:  you 
can’t force these issues.  No short cuts

Play and Be Played.
School and Be Schooled.
If you got better and more pressing things to do—
better be doing them.  Or else.
