Serious Academics: "What do we talk about when we talk about love?"

On the one hand:

Fear in a Handful of Must

On both sides of the desk,
Friend Fear.

I know what drives my
anxious & controlling ways..

Mexican Stand-off as we
used to be able to say

Got you covered.
Yeah? me, too.
You.

Reciprocal Blackmail:
Please me // Please me
or else

Re-inforcemental Studies
& Leadership programs

I’ll reward you if you be good.
I’ll be good if you reward me.
& we’ll both reward
(or punish)
each other

A conspiracy: a “breathing together”
the spirit of the whole fear-based
control-&-regulate-it operation.
An environmentalism: toxic,
hazardous waste building
up the bozone level

For the sake of argument, of course,
let this terrible overstated reduction
stand-for the fundamental ground on
which we do business via/per ex-officio
authority that secures institutionalized
order in the classroom

That given (or something like), THEN
we can complicate-it-up with ways we
prefer to talk about it, ways that sound
a lot better but occlude our underlying
Archimedean leverage:

the sound of clapping
fear in a hand full of
must

on the other hand,

with no denial and cover-up, sounding the
negentropic ways we inspire our selves
and students to take “serious” our academics,
cry hammock & unleash the dogs of lore
so as to put IT in play.

Liberal Art: life-long sport

Inspire and Be Inspired

The word invokes breath, aspiration, respiration
—a conspiracy: breathing together.

Esprit de Corpse

Atmosphere and Context as opposed to content,
topic, textual harassment & the nitty-gritty
business of object & subject matter.

An Environmental Issue, Jeanne Sommers raises.
(How do we inspire students to take their
academics seriously?)

A Cultural affair. Edificational: building the habitat
for the habits for the practice of our humanities,
fine arts & sciences —hard & soft.

Mythologize

Characterize our Spirit.
Reify.
Personify.
Deify, even.

Our Emily of Environmental Studies (& leadership
programs) manifests; she appears to us gathered in
forum, an embodiment we each see differently from
our parallax points of views, how could it be
otherwise?

What questions would you ask her?
What issues might she raise?

A spiritual conversation: frame discourse about our
discourse about our collective State of Minding,
Attitude, Local Weltanschauung: talking about
how we talk about how we talk around here,
and “what do we talk about when we talk
about LOVE?”

xxxooo, Sam
