Triad Talk

On the one hand:

is a dynamic inter-relationship that can be represented
(manifested, embodied) by any number of “names,”
reifications, personifications, deifications.

Transformational Grammar (translating deep & surface)
Surface grammar (Conventional, Prescriptive)

All these: variations on the same structure where each
incommensurate part contains the other 2 — 3 in 1, 1 in 3:
an integrity, unity, universe.

The triad is a fundamental IDEA representing a PATTERN of
an internal ternary relationship--one that "incorporates" binary
and double-bind oppositions.

Or as Emerson has it:

CAUSE OPERATION EFFECT
The Knower The Doer The Sayer
(truth) (goodness) (beauty)

On the other hand:

Here's how we chiefly talk about the triad— and integrating it:
we amalgamate

1) courses with
2) a work assignment and
3) a related service project:

The more of these the better, assuming the arranged surface
co-incidence of all three ( if a student then also sits to reflect),
will integrate the triad of academics, work, & service—as
if integration and balance were surface phenomena: external
activities dependent on contrived circumstance and event:
study forest ecology, work on forest crew, help clean out
bitter-sweet & invasive species in Asheville. Study social
agencies, work on a campus crisis crews, volunteer to work
with homeless. Major in English, work with Writing Center,
teach in adult literacy programs.

Two Hands

These two Ways of Talking about “the TRIAD”
are as radically incommensurate as the realm of IDEA
is to the territory called ACTION, as Life of the Mind
Minding is to Life of the Body and Body Politic-ing.

Integrating the Triad:
the triad within: the triad without.
What's the difference between these domains?
What's the relationship? On the one hand and then
also on the other hand: what's the sound of two hands
clapping?

Of one?.
