Mission Impossible

Mission Impossible

I have entitled this speech:

“A Call for Systemic Change.”
That’s what I am presumptuous
enough to call on you to create
in education. I do not ask you
to do anything I am not trying
to do in industry. Unless
somebody leads, nobody will.
Why not you?"
Ray Anderson

To break the collards barrier & bring
Foolishness, Illogic & the Irrationals
into the Country Club: let them be
House Band, at least,. & take back
the night.

To massage & recalibrate if not re-
configure the Environed Mental
Academic atmosphere: its culturally
convenient & conventional contextual
harassmental studies eclipsing the
thinking-about-thinking necessary
to progress us out of this peccadillo
and bring about an emergent happy
ending.

To build a shared Frame of Minding that
does no injustice to our immeasurable
covered-up denied & non-assessed system
self-validating smiling stunned stupidity,
confusion & ignorance but rather turns it up,
puts it all in play as not-yr- father’s-old
mobilization that generated the problem but
rather as infinite resource and the local food
we have with us always. Manna.

To let dumb & dumber be cool and
smart & smarter be hot and see how
they might could just get along so as
to temper the winds for the newly
shorn lambs.

We can’t solve problems by using the same
kind of thinking we used when we created
them. (A.E.)

Thinking about thinking-about-thinking
as opposed to just thinking. Who here can
describe and characterize the “kind of thinking”
that generated our problems and therefore
may not only be impotent but hindrance, bad
habit, stumbling block: addiction because I’m
used to it & it’s all I know. That's me in the corner.
That's me in the spotlight. Consider this the hint
of
the century. Consider this:

How many kinds of thinking
can you spot on & which
kinds manufacture the
problem?

Can we reach
some consensus here?
May we? Make some?

Our universities... continue to teach
and operate in the system
that is
destroying the biosphere.
Adherence
to the old mind-set, the
old curricula,
obsolete pedagogy, and
shortsighted
planning are producing
graduates
who are trained to perpetuate
the
destruction of the biosphere.

We need to know how
you think about thinking
and what, too. So as to
consider the kinds of
thinking
(not subject
matter, mind you, not
content, topic, theme,
issues, environmental
concerns...steep slopes
bottle water, drumming
circles in Pritchard Park)
that might be said to generate
the problems Einstein &
Anderson say cannot be
re-solved by the kinds
of thinking that generated
them in the first place..

How to go about
Thinking about
Thinking? &
what kind of
Environmentalism
might encourage
this collaboration?

Are these questions
we need to Google?
Bing? Twitter amongst
ourselves? Go to the
library for answers?
