Irrationally Rational &
Rationally Irrational!
My whole pedagogical shtick is to
turn up the “PLAYBOY” mode
eclipsed by “PURITAN” dominance:
to flaunt divergence in the face of
convergence. Waste IT among the
Conservationists. blow IT out and
away among the Sustainable-ists.
But then also simultaneously: to
LOVE the Puritan, too: my enemy,
my worthy opposition. Because, as
students constantly remind me:
“You can’t have One without
the Other. Sam.”
And I agree: but one of the 2 seems
to Boss so much as to almost occlude
the Other—and all I want to do is put
them both In Play: you know—and
dance, dance, dance..
In "Schola" mode, at least—if not in
Church and State.

let them have a Good Time together.
Even as I say that: I know it’s
Incommensurate. Venus N Mars: they
can’t Just Get Along!
But they must. Some how in some fashion
or framework or other. Because I can’t have
One without the Other. Students tell me so.
