Intro to Fiction as Liberal Art

Dear Fiction-ists, Language-ers, Trans-Romantics,
Phenomenologists, Epistemologists, Anthropologists,
Sociologists, Critical Thinkers, and Colleagues-
Across-the-curriculum.

My FICTION fashions My

Which would you rather do:
WIN or Be Happy?

Once we agree together that
it’s impossible to separate
“aesthetics” from” ethics”
so as to SEE without the
filter of our bias and belief
system contaminating our
observations, THEN we can.
Need we argue?

I’m going to try and make this irrational-seeming
statement “logical”—even though it contradicts itself.

We dealing purely in MENTAL PROCESS here, yes?
Not the politics of Iran and Health Care, WWC Writing
Center and Empowerment. Not blasting the Oppression
From White Patriarchs—although all that is conceptual,
too.

Concepts on the one hand. Mental PROCESS on the
other hand. Sort of like saying NOUNS on the one
hand VERBS-VERBING on the other. LIKE, I said.
Not IS.

Suspend quibble for a moment & 'tend like you’re
listening to fairy tale or myth. Small children won’t
agonize over whether Brer Rabbit can talk on not.
What specific rib Eve popped out from or Athena
from the forehead of Zeus makes no never mind..

Talking Frame-of-Minding here.

We all know how it is our biases & belief &
prejudices & convictions (our “ethics” or as
Twain calls it: “our Damned Moral Sense” )
will always contaminate and filter what we
SEE (aesthetics) no matter how we claim to
be objective and impartial—true?

Ok. if you agree, we’re in business.
If not—well forgetaboutit.

Once we all can agree how biased and prejudiced
we are and how it shapes what we see THEN in
a sense we’ve outed IT, up on the table (so to speak)
keeping an eye on IT, factoring IT in and SO we can
see BEYOND what, unacknowledged, would block
and eclipse —see right THRU our filters, transparent
but not TRANSPARENT, know what I mean.?

If bias/belief is unacknowledged,
its transparency is toxic & can’t be
seen to be SEEN, and will exercise
its invisible influence.

But once its transparency is factored-in,
(put in play?), it becomes part of
THE GAME, seen-thru and
the seeing-thru is seen-thru
and not just seen thru,
get it?

Make sense?

Well, not real Sense sense:
mental process sense. Manners
of speaking sense. Not the same
sense as sticks and stones and bones sense. .

Anyone can improve my terms,
or what's a college for? .
