My question is: HOW do we
use our course evaluations to
improve our teaching and learning?
I am prompted to wonder about
this as a result of the challenges
presented by collecting this
presumably important data. [A.C.]
EVAL is what I do. Students
(stunned, stupid) would not
come to my class at 8 am if I
didn’t have & wield my Power
& Authority of EVAL over them.
Diller a Dollar.
Why else would they comply?
Sit still? Meet deadlines. Manage
time management procedures.
Out of desire? Voluntarily?
My authority is institutional.
Ex Officio. No charisma
sufficices, need apply, not
even necessary as long as
I am consistent, organized:
clear goals & measurable
objectives: can demonstrate
that I do what I say I'll
do and do it. .
They have to please me.
I have to please them.
Reciprocal. Mutual manipulation.
