Fear & Offense

Dear American Literati
and Colleagues Across the
Curriculum.

Roots:

Fear (I.E. per: through-ness)—like
friction, say, rubbing against the
grain,  mild antagonism: fresh
breeze raising goose bumps
sure but no big chill. manageable &
I can do this no big deal I think I can
I think I can—oooo no, too much
rubbing the wrong way, damnit etc.
Every day occurrence —my fear and
trembling how could it be other wise?
Fearful, sure: full of fear. .

Offense – merely variant, sub-category,
kind of fear going on that I might offend
when I want so much to be loved, liked,
saluted, praised  & picked if not first
at least second on the dodge ball teams.

I want to be a “good person.”
I'd rather be good than….
I'd rather be liked than….
I'd rather be wanted than….

But I also want to be GOOD,
know what I mean?  GOOD AT….hello,
really good at hitting the edge, pushing the
limit, provoking a stir, stirring a thrill—ooos
and ahhhhs and cowbells ringing.

FEAR if I do FEAR if I don’t
FEAR  = moving through IT, damnit.
ExPerienced.. ExPERi-mental.
Ex-Feart

xxxooo, Sam
