Damaged and Damaging if I Do or Don't
FICTION
Even the word fiction comes carrying cultural
connotations which are essentially “negative’
And “myth” which originally refers to the words
and stories that attempt to SAY what IT’s all
about: in other words express the TRUTH
of Truths. . .
(while Myth’s consort Ritual indicates actions
we do/did to be in tune with, in accord with
the Whole )
. . .I was going to say "Myth" (along with FICTION)
takes a beating in daily converse.
Good words: “fiction,” “myth,” “ritual”—describing
our hopes & fears of all the years to be
accommodating and accommodated
--at home in the universe..
And yet, in an environment saturated in it’s own
stereotype of science and rationalism and logic
and control, grounded in measurement and
assessment, those words seem quaint, as if "myth"
were naive, and "ritual" & "rite" maybe a compulsion,
or slight obsession; and fiction well: just-a-fiction
for crying out loud.
Introduction to Fiction. See the problem? The challenge?
How to reclaim terms from cultural bias without doing
injustice to the culture and convention; how to walk on
eggs (woe) and walk on water (wow) without denying
the damage done or covering-up the ongoing violence
of human nature compelled to express itself. .
It’s crucial.
Say what you believe, express yourself.
Don’t say what you believe: repress yourself
And don’t let contradiction or paradox stand in your way,
knowing when to hold them, when to fold them. Always a
gamble.Gambol. Jeopardy.
It’s contextual. An environmental issue.
If I am making any sense here, I got lucky is all.
It's never unilateral, always consensual.
Reciprocal. IT, I said. Do I always
have to spell it out, damnit.
