Even More Signs

Signs, Symbols, Signification

Dear Colleagues ATC.

This link came in from a student this morning.
I've seen it before and may  have spammed it
to you all.  It popped up  right after I read the
president's report and the 36 actions in motion re
the strategic plan and seems timely...

IT's as interesting to put in play as the Alternative
Fuels signs-- but maybe more appropriately
demoralizing than merely seeing the always ambiguous
embarrassment of Principle & Compliance which our
Leeds and SACS  participation necessarily generates
part-of-life, everyone knows that.

The GAP.

This video was done in 2007 at a large university,
in an education class. We're smaller and know our
students better so maybe it's irrelevant to us.
Still interesting, though

(The students look just like our students)

So...what?
Stuff & nonsense.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.
That's all very well and good but
it's a conversation for another time.

We've already  got 36 actions in motion in process
plus task forces on alcohol, sustainable food, land,
work program governance and student  concerns re
meal plans, healthy weekends, activism-as- service,
faculty & staff evaluating, more political diversity,
retention and strengthening the academic experience. ..

Redundantly and with all the impact of rice
against the rhino- built-in homeland security
sustainability that necessarily  resists any

systemic re-configuring and transformational
threat, I repeat my conviction that the best
arena for  reacting to, considering and

discussing  (putting in play)  the signs &
significance these students hold up is inside
the very MEDIA that they are using to express
themselves.

This right be-here-now social hyde-park electric
company 24/7/365 accessible finger-tip away
converse action capability schools-never-out
non-hierarchical level playing field  full frontal
wikileaks in plain sight  no-need-to-wait-for-faculty
forum or lunch-table banter: the media IS
the message....

...for the sake of argument (Pollyanna on the one
hand & Samuel  Scrooge on the other and let there
be no injustice to either hand else it's the souund
of only one slapping and you know what THAT
sound like!) or what's a college for?

Yrs in sustainable, ongoing & mediated immediate
converse action.

xxxooo, Sam   (It's obvious how my terms
need improving. I wish you would: be a colleague!)
