The MYTH That Frames my Frame of Minding.
The MYTH (framing my frame of minding)
Swimming all soaking wet in cultural relativity,
habitats of humanism and our good & evil-ing
moral sense —affected by terms that determine
me affectively worse than sticks and stones.
I’ll ban Huck Finn now and Faulkner later
in order to be decent: a good citizen.
To Go Against ALL—something like
hearing the command to sacrifice an
only son and responding accordingly.
Against all reason, custom, culture,
not to mention convention. Not knowing
how it will turn out. Abrahamic.
It doesn’t cast the convention as evil,
or the culture, or world system,
establishment: givens.
It doesn’t cast as evil one’s connection
and interdependence with the system,
the establishment. We all are. Family,
friends, colleagues, the good&evil-ing
of world affairs: that’s what we do, without
contrariety, no progress.
All GOOD: God’s in his heaven etc.
as it were.
The essential good & evil struggle,I see in
personal terms as an Israelic wrestling match
—anyone’s personal relationship with the
absolute; me: Jacob say or like some Abraham
breaking thru and beyond habits and habitats
of humania & our “damned moral sense”;
cultural: call it the crucifixion of one’s ego—
call it nirvana getting one’s mind blown;
call it elenchus-to-aporia the Greek
prerequisite to the beginnings of liberal art
(philosophy if not religion): going beyond but
still tangled in humanism and my human values,
lack, need, want, inadequacy, aspiration,
misinterpretations ouch, oh shit, damnit, hurts
like hello: me wrestling with god, damnit
determined to get better, if not good—in my
own terms of desire of course that goes without
saying and is so excruciating, a royal pain in the ass.. . .:
