Fools Rush INN

Dear Humans and Colleagues ATC,

          Pedagogies of Creativity
            on a  proper collision course
                           with

Rubric Assessment & Accountability.

Separate and polarize these two “hostile” values.
Turn up  the opposition. Don’t let either win.
Anticipate complementarity. A good time had
by all--and SACS, its time come round at last,
shuffles toward Bethlehem to be born again. .

Dear  Readers in Humanity,

Nay, fly to Altars; there they'll talk you dead;
For Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread.

The 'fools' that Pope targeted there were the
literary critics of the day.

               &&&&&&&&&&
“There is an art-making that begins  with pore-
seeking (lifting the shame covers, finding the
loophole, refusing to guard the secrets),  that
uncovers a plenitude of material hidden from
conventional eyes (ready mades are everywhere)
and that points toward a kind of mind able to
work with that revealed complexity, one called,
in these  last cases, the hinge-mind,
the translator-mind. “
(Lewis Hyde)
The hinge mind. Conjure That! The translator mind!
Pore (portal, doors) seeking. Finding the loop hole.
Lifting the Shame Covers. Unveiling, Exposing,
Revealing—apocalyptic—what’s hidden from
conventional eyes.
Trickster, that bastard. Clown, jester, jesus. joker
(“wait’ll they get a load of this!”) Fools rush in where
angels fear to tread.

Today’s hand out comes as close to giving  away the
keys to the kingdom  (where angles fear to tread) as
any of the stuff so far.    Need we argue?

If you do a close reading of the opening piece (Hyde)
—and then pound the except from Koestler (on the
bisociation  of 2 matrices--see below, you might  find
your self working up a sense of  wonderful ambiguity,
conflict and agony, caught in the middle of opposing
MATRICES (cultures, customs  conventions, kinds
of classes) and surfing the stress and tension that
mother’s invention,  or art or at least ha, ha, and HA.

Coming up with your own a Origin Theory for the
generation of  innovation. Or using /abusing this one.

Carrie Critical Thinking on the one hand  (academy values)
Carl Creative imagination on the other (conservatory values)
collide at the cross roads... do the math.

Arthur Koestler in The Act of Creation, describes  the
dynamic  ongoing origins of  science, art, and humor as
“the bisociation of two  matrices”—by which wonderful
phrase he means the collision  of 2 incommensurate
systems, values, perspectives, disciplines, customs,
cultures, habits out of which the emergence of new
knowledge, or artistic expression if not the blow-off
immediate release of laughter:ha, ha, and ha—nervous
or joyous depending on the nature of the  crash of the
worlds colliding.   .

Consider it a provocation for part of your Theory of
Human Nature (& Nurture)  Who couldn't use a
decent FRAME of MINDING that  holds competing
aspects of experience (what we call good, what we
call evil, what we call nice, what we call nasty, what we
like, what we dislike—bark bark barking) without
necessarily diminishing one or the other—or Just Voting.

See what I’m saying?
NO? Perfect.
We can argue then.

Fools Rush Inn.
No reservations Needed.

(If  a fool persist in his ways, he becomes wise."
Wm Blake--from Marriage of Heaven and Hell

S'allgood, says Snoop & Alexander Pope, too.

xxxooo,. Sam
