Peer Pressure is Forever says Patti Smith and David Dark

In the mean time:

     Peer Pressure is Forever

    (Patti Smith & David Dark)

So much invested in being a goodie
in the country club way: a smarty pants,
compassionate and empathetic, good
listener,  looking GOOD: responsible,
groan-up, like-able, admirable, cute,
loving, tender, vegan, environmentalist,
humanist, xtian, spiritual-if-not-religious
so there’s always a niche for the nasty
boy—dirty work worker no one wants
to be.

    Funda-mental in the best sense.

Systemic. Foundational. Bottom-line:
can't live with-it, can't live without-it

When Woody Bousquet was dean
for a short period of time, we shared
appreciation for this kind of necessary
and systemic functionary .

"Oh, he's a a fundamentalist all right,
in the  best sense," we'd tell each other,
characterizing a colleague affectionately.

The notion and assessment never caught
on as work program or service project
appropriate, as occupation truly to be
desired. Never the less  Quintessential
Fundament. "Not as the world
rewards."

xxxooo, Sam
