3 free-range turkeys
Father, Mum & Moldy
Toast walk across the
lawn, front & back,
every day—big brown
bellies, tail-feathered,
knees high stepping
red heads & wattles
bobbing about.
Sometimes one stops.
Stands straight 3 ½ to
4 ft up still as stone:
eye blink once or
twice:
Check it out.
Then moves on:
scaly claw
scaly claw
I fail to get in touch.
Make contact. Serious birds.
No converse action across
an afternoon's delight.
I can talk turkey
somewhat &
wouldn't mind
catching up on
Henny Penny.
Assessment of High-Impact Practices:
Using Findings to Drive Change in the
Compass Project
" Using campus-level assessment of high-
impact practices (HIPs) drawn from the
National Survey of Student Engagement
(NSSE), this article reports on the trends in
student participation in HIPs and the
associated learning outcomes that were
analyzed via the initial aggregation of data
at the state system level and, then, ultimately
through the aggregation of system level data
to inform national findings."
