Thinking About Thinking Out of the Pox

Neither Logic Nor Sermons Convince

          (Thinking about Thinking
                 out of the Pox)

Somewhat Surreal but not as severe as Dada
exploring frontiers yet unknown:  begin with
the common  sense, say, Professional School-

Liberal Education is an approach  to learning
that empowers individuals and prepares them
to deal with complexity, diversity, and change.
It provides students with broad knowledge of
the wider world  (e.g. science, culture, and
society)  as well as in-depth study in a
specific area of interest.

AAC&U's LEAP Campaign has defined a robust
set of "Essential Learning Outcomes" that students
develop during an excellent contemporary liberal
education. Beginning in school, and continuing at
successively higher levels across their college
studies, students should prepare for twenty-first-
century challenges by gaining all these outcomes.
These outcomes prepare students both for work
and for effective citizenship.

Tie a gold thread tight to this standard, then wonder
as I wander how far beyond borders I might bear the
torch

over the edge & beyond,  barely cognizant—no:
(to be honest) ignorant how  my  lucid scheming
occludes all the darkness I would  illuminate:

Ultima Thule in my own terms-of-desire: measurable
aims, assessable goals.  Stick in a thumb. Pull out a
plumb. O what a good boy am I.
