General Education (Not to be Confused with Teaching/Learning Styles)

General Education

We used to call it The Core.

One faculty member presented it
to the student body eating an apple
through his explanation so at the end,
he could hold it up and say, “And
THAT my dears, is the CORE.”

(The College of the Atlantic back
then called their whole curriculum
“The Whale,” the controlling meta
force for their unique education..)

It don’t matter what IT is:
content,
subject-object matter,
procedures and protocol,
as long as the faculty is enthusiastic
and finds IT engaging.

Otherwise it’s just compliance like
with SACS.

Like a pair of significant others
quarreling over who took out the
trash last. “It’s not about the trash,
insists one of them. “It’s about the
relationship.”

“Nope. It’s about the trash.”

And so it goes and goes & the more
it snows tiddly pum, the colder my
toes is growing, is growing.

xxooo, Presbyter
