I.E, deru - to be firm, enduring:: tree, trust, truth, troth

I.E. deru - to be firm, enduring --> tree, trust

Puns Don't Kill People: People Do

No decent middle class person would have waked
in the  50’s and said—think I’ll go down
town and
get my butt tattooed, Tree of  Life
  rising from my
rear end to spread  branches
across my back—and
maybe a nose stud
, because it wasn’t psyche-
environmentally
feasible or permissible except for
the marginal.

Not cool.

But now is.  Desirable and many  submit to a pain
they suffer willingly but would have
found insufferable
in 1956. This could not
happen if it weren’t, now,  cool.

Got to be cool or forgetaboutit.
                   Need we argue?

I have  hope for Converse Action Across the Curriculum:
t
hat it may become cool.

ERROR:  our MFA program was inherited from
Goddard College, not Bennington as I
had said in
my brief hysteria.   I was corrected
by a colleague
the other day.  This is the rich
benefit of converse
action across the curriculum.

Colleagues have your back.  Make a mistake? No
big deal.
Colleagues all around to correct, improve
terms.
Set the record straight.

Feel Safe: Feel Safe.
Margins for error and  rooms for play.
Who can’t get better and good under
those
collegial circumstances?

School and Be Schooled.
Play and Be Played
How school is that?

(I'm lit up from just finishing reading my American
Lit final exams.  What a delight!! Wit. Whim. Savvy.
Imagination. Makes responding to them a joy in the
 morning, unpostponed.  Counting the weeks.
