A Stink Bug is Not Without Honor
Except in His Own Country
A small draft of apprehension comes
and goes like wind disturbing trees
itself unseen: origin and destination
unknown, serving purposes of its own
measureable objectives beyond me:
branches & limbs dip and bow is all.
My most stalwart pioneer: a stink bug
tracking the surface of my window since
mid fall, disappearing into the interior
for days & showing up in surprise to
navigate again up and down, back and
forth across falling snow and thrashing
trees.
Sustainable and resilient. I meant to
squash him a week ago when he landed
on my mouse but held off to see how
long he’d last without deliverance.
