Empowermental Studies and Leadership Programs III

Dear Colleagues on both
sides of the desk and across
the curriculum

(Stalwart Pioneers Series)

Empowermental Studies

and Leadership Programs.

I want to be Good so bad
I can’t afford the bad it takes
to get Good:  that’s how bad
I want to be Good,

From any normal stand point I
define myself as insane according
to a popular definition that claims
any one trying something with
repeated failure and yet keeps on
keeping on is nuts.

My Mission Impossible.  Failure is
expected and success is seen
as persistence in spite of it.

“Don’t ever give up,” says Trump—
key to a success which has nothing
to do with outcome but describes
continuity of process,  the sustain
ability.

       Basic Questions:

What’s the Difference between
a difference that makes a difference
and a difference that  doesn’t?  &
what’s the relationship between the
two?

This question precedes study of all
liberal arts as well as The Liberal
Art in the same way that existence is
said to precede essence..

Implicit, sure: packed into perception
and thought: the Sames & Differences
Games—differences and relationships.

Difference AND Relationship

Consider the difference between
“difference” and “relationship” and
then therelationship between the two.

    Attention Efficient/Deficiency
  Ratios: rationality, reasonings

Consider the difference between not
paying any  attention to the difference
between difference &  relationship on
the one hand and on the other: paying
attention to it (the difference)

The difference/relationship relationship-
&-difference has no location you can
see or touch except in manners of
speaking. ..

Fundamental & Intangible. No thing.

Linguists and Information  theorists define
MEANING as “a difference that makes
a difference.”

No sentiment here, no bias or belief
Sentiment is value-added  as  conviction,
prejudice: measurable goals & outcomes

Differences that make no difference
are galore. Description is all. This
on the one hand and then  there’s
that.

Differences that Make a Difference
That’s where the value emerges: cultural
traps & contexts, closet connotation,
convention, convenience, tradition,
discipline, common sense..

Meaning. Empowerment.  Arbitrary and
up for grabs. Need we argue? This would
be what a college is for: to make differences
that make a difference.

xxxooo, Sam
